Background

In the Key of Solomon, the Pentacles are talismanic seals arranged under the seven classical planets—Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Sun, Venus, Mercury, Moon—for a total of 44. Each seal weaves sacred names and figures to channel a distinct current (protection, favor, attraction, eloquence, dreams, etc.).

The Second Pentacle of Mercury is classically used for knowledge, eloquence, and mastery in communication. It aids students, teachers, speakers, and seekers who must recall, persuade, or deliver with clarity. What is a Mercury hour?

Planetary hours split daylight (sunrise → sunset) and night (sunset → next sunrise) into 12 equal parts—so the length shifts with the season.

The first hour after local sunrise is ruled by the planet of the day.
Rulers cycle in Chaldean order: Saturn → Jupiter → Mars → Sun → Venus → Mercury → Moon, repeating.

Therefore on Wednesday, the 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd planetary hours (counting from sunrise) are Mercury hours.
